Possible Causes
Loose or oxidized ribbon cable between display board and main PCB, Failed touch control panel, Moisture ingress into control fascia, Faulty main control board communication circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the ice maker from mains power before removing the control panel.
- Dry the control area: If condensation or splashes have reached the control panel, allow the unit to dry for several hours with the door open. Do not use direct heat.
- Access the control panel: Remove the screws securing the front control fascia. Carefully pull it forward to expose the display board and ribbon cable.
- Inspect and reseat connectors: Disconnect the ribbon cable between the UI board and main PCB, inspect for corrosion or bent pins, then reconnect firmly. Ensure the cable is not pinched.
- Check for damage: Look for burn marks, cracked solder joints, or liquid damage on the UI board. If present, replace the user interface / display board.
- Test operation: Reassemble the fascia, restore power, and test all buttons. If E6 persists, the main control board may have a communication fault and require replacement.
