Possible Causes
Failed evaporator fan motor, Ice buildup blocking fan blade, Broken fan wiring harness, Faulty fan driver circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before accessing the evaporator compartment.
- Inspect for ice obstruction: Remove the internal cover near the evaporator. Check if ice has built up around the fan shroud or blades. Defrost manually if necessary by leaving the unit off with the door open.
- Check fan movement: Spin the fan blade gently by hand. If it is stiff or jammed, clear obstructions. If the motor feels rough or seized, replace the evaporator fan motor.
- Verify wiring: Inspect the fan harness for damage or loose connectors at both the fan and main PCB. Reseat connectors securely.
- Test voltage: With the unit powered and calling for cooling (only if you are trained and using proper precautions), measure voltage at the fan connector. If correct voltage is present but the fan does not run, replace the fan motor.
- PCB diagnosis: If no voltage is supplied to a known-good fan, the main control board fan driver may be defective and the board will need replacement.
