Possible Causes
Partially clogged water distribution tube, Scale buildup in water trough, Faulty water level sensor or float switch, Incorrect installation causing siphoning or drain back
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and close the water supply before internal cleaning.
- Clean water system: Remove the ice bin and access the water trough and distribution tube. Use a food-safe descaler or white vinegar solution to dissolve mineral deposits. Rinse thoroughly.
- Inspect float or level sensor: If your Brandt model uses a float, ensure it moves freely and is not obstructed by scale or debris. For electronic level sensors, clean the probes and check wiring.
- Check for siphoning: Ensure the drain hose is routed according to the installation manual, with no low loops that could cause water to siphon out of the trough.
- Run a test cycle: Restore water and power, then observe the fill level. If the trough does not reach the proper level and E9 recurs, replace the water level sensor or float switch assembly.
