  • Check alignment: Ensure the probe is positioned according to the service diagram (usually a set distance from the evaporator). Gently bend or adjust the bracket if it has been knocked out of place.
  • Inspect wiring: Follow the probe wires back to the harness and main PCB. Reseat connectors and check for damage.
  • Test operation: Reassemble, plug in, and run a cycle. If E5 returns, the thickness sensor or its control circuit may need replacement.
