Possible Causes

Defective evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from evaporator surface, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Failed main control board sensor circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety warning: Disconnect the ice maker from power before removing covers. Sharp metal edges may be present; wear cut-resistant gloves.

Steps to diagnose:

  • Reset the unit: Unplug for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect. If E2 returns immediately, proceed with inspection.
  • Locate the evaporator sensor: Remove the top or side cover to access the ice-making assembly. The evaporator NTC is usually clipped or glued to the metal evaporator plate or ice tray area with two wires leading to the PCB.
  • Check physical placement: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the evaporator surface. If it has fallen off, reattach using thermal tape or the original clip so it can accurately sense temperature.
  • Inspect wiring and connector: Look for broken insulation, kinks, or signs of moisture ingress. Unplug and replug the connector at the control board.
  • Measure resistance: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to the cabinet NTC if they are the same type. A reading of OL or 0 Ω indicates a failed sensor.
  • Replace the evaporator NTC: If readings are abnormal or the sensor is physically damaged, install a new evaporator / ice tray NTC sensor compatible with your Caso model.
  • Control board check: If a new sensor does not clear E2, the main control PCB may be defective and should be replaced or evaluated by a technician.
