Possible Causes

Failed ambient NTC sensor near air intake, Loose or oxidized sensor connector, Damaged sensor harness due to vibration, Faulty main PCB analog input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the appliance before inspection. Avoid pulling on wires directly; use the connectors.

What to do:

  • Check installation environment: Ensure the ice maker is not placed in extreme heat or direct sunlight; some models will show E3 if ambient temperature is out of range. Move the unit to a cooler, well-ventilated area and power-cycle.
  • Locate ambient sensor: On many Caso ice makers, the ambient NTC is positioned near the air intake grille or behind the front panel. Remove the appropriate cover to access it.
  • Visual inspection: Look for dust buildup, moisture, or physical damage to the sensor capsule and wiring. Clean dust with a soft brush.
  • Check connections: Disconnect and reconnect the sensor plug at the PCB. Look for corrosion or bent pins.
  • Test resistance: With power disconnected, measure the sensor resistance at room temperature. Compare with expected NTC values or with another identical sensor in the unit if present.
  • Replace sensor: If resistance is clearly out of range or intermittent, replace the ambient NTC temperature sensor.
  • Board replacement: If a new sensor does not resolve E3, the main control board may be defective and should be replaced by a professional.
