Possible Causes

Blocked condenser airflow, Failed condenser fan motor, Overheated compressor due to high ambient temperature, Faulty compressor overload protector or PTC starter

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the ice maker before removing rear panels. The compressor and condenser can be hot; allow them to cool.

Procedure:

  • Check ventilation: Ensure at least 10–15 cm clearance around the unit. Remove any objects blocking the rear or side vents. Move the unit away from heat sources.
  • Clean condenser coil: Remove the rear cover to access the condenser. Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint from the fins.
  • Verify condenser fan operation: With the cover off, briefly plug in the unit and start a cycle. Confirm the condenser fan motor spins freely. If it does not start or is noisy, unplug the unit and replace the fan motor.
  • Inspect compressor starter and overload: With power disconnected, remove the plastic cover on the compressor terminals. Check the PTC starter relay and overload protector for burn marks or loose fit.
  • Replace faulty components: If the fan is seized or the PTC/overload shows signs of overheating or rattling internally, replace the defective part with a Caso-compatible component.
  • Allow cooling time: If the compressor was overheated, let the unit sit unplugged for 30–60 minutes before restarting.
  • Professional service: If E5 persists and the compressor does not run even with new starter/overload, the compressor or sealed system may be faulty and requires a qualified refrigeration technician.
