Countertop Euhomy ice maker stops making ice and displays E1 on the control panel.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before opening any panels. Do not work on the unit while it is connected to power.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Power reset: Unplug the unit for 10 minutes, then plug back in and see if E1 clears. Sometimes a transient sensor reading can trigger this code.
- 2. Check installation location: Ensure the ice maker is not placed in direct sunlight, next to a stove, or in a very hot room (>32°C / 90°F). Excessive heat can cause sensor readings to go out of range.
- 3. Inspect sensor wiring: Remove the rear or side cover (depending on model). Locate the small thermistor (usually a bullet-shaped sensor on two thin wires clipped to the cabinet or near the air intake). Check that the connector is fully seated on the main control board and that the wires are not pinched or cut.
- 4. Clean dust and debris: Use a soft brush or compressed air to remove dust from around the sensor and control board. Heavy dust can cause heat buildup and abnormal readings.
- 5. Test/replace sensor: If you have a multimeter, measure the thermistor resistance at room temperature and compare with Euhomy specs (typically 5–10 kΩ at 25°C for many NTC sensors). If it is open, shorted, or far out of range, replace the ambient temperature sensor harness.
- 6. Control board check: If a known-good sensor still triggers E1, the main control PCB temperature input circuit may be defective and the board will need replacement.
When to call a technician: If you are not comfortable testing resistance or accessing the control board, contact a qualified appliance technician or Euhomy support.
