Possible Causes
Stuck mechanical float in water reservoir, Faulty water level sensor or float switch, Mineral buildup on float or sensor, Disconnected or damaged level sensor wiring to control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing covers or reaching into the water reservoir.
Steps to resolve:
- 1. Check water level: Ensure the reservoir is filled to the correct level with clean, potable water. Too low or too high can confuse the sensor.
- 2. Inspect the float: Open the lid and locate the plastic float or water level probe in the reservoir. Move the float up and down gently. It should move freely without sticking. If it is stuck, clean around it.
- 3. Descale and clean: Drain the reservoir. Mix a solution of warm water and food-safe descaler or white vinegar (1:1). Wipe the float, sensor, and reservoir walls to remove mineral deposits. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- 4. Check wiring: Remove the rear or bottom panel to access the float switch or level sensor wiring. Ensure connectors are tight on both the sensor and the main control board. Look for broken or pinched wires.
- 5. Test the switch: With a multimeter, check continuity of the float switch while moving it between low and high positions. Replace the float switch or level sensor assembly if it does not change state.
Note: If E2 persists after cleaning and verifying wiring, the sensor or control board may need replacement.
