Possible Causes

Defective evaporator thermistor, Thermistor dislodged from evaporator plate, Damaged thermistor wiring harness, Failed temperature input on main control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit before accessing internal components. Avoid touching sharp metal edges around the evaporator.

How to troubleshoot:

  • 1. Power reset: Unplug for 10 minutes, then restart. If E3 returns quickly, proceed with inspection.
  • 2. Access evaporator area: Remove the top cover and any internal panels to expose the metal evaporator grid/plate where ice forms.
  • 3. Locate the thermistor: Look for a small sensor clipped or taped to the evaporator surface with two thin wires leading to the control board. Ensure it is firmly attached to the evaporator and not hanging loose.
  • 4. Inspect wiring: Trace the thermistor wires back to the main control board. Check for cuts, pinches, or loose connectors. Reseat the connector on the board.
  • 5. Test sensor: With a multimeter, measure resistance at room temperature and compare to Euhomy's thermistor spec. If the reading is open, shorted, or far off, replace the evaporator thermistor.
  • 6. Control board evaluation: If a new thermistor does not clear E3, the control board's sensor circuit may be defective and the board will need replacement.

Tip: When reattaching the thermistor, ensure good contact with the evaporator surface for accurate temperature readings.
