Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between keypad and main board, Moisture intrusion into control panel, Failed touchpad or button PCB, Faulty main control board interface
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before removing the control panel or touching wiring.
Steps:
- 1. Dry the control area: If the panel was recently splashed, wipe it dry and let the unit sit unplugged for several hours to allow moisture to evaporate.
- 2. Access control panel: Remove the screws securing the top or front panel to expose the control PCB and keypad ribbon cable.
- 3. Reseat connectors: Carefully unplug and reinsert the ribbon cable or wiring harness between the keypad and main board. Ensure it is fully seated and not corroded.
- 4. Inspect for damage: Look for burnt spots, cracked solder joints, or corrosion on the control PCB. If present, the board may need replacement.
- 5. Test buttons: With the unit reassembled and powered, test each button. If some or all buttons are unresponsive and E7 remains, replace the keypad/control panel assembly.
