Possible Causes
Clogged water pump inlet screen, Jammed pump impeller from debris, Failed water circulation pump motor, Loose pump wiring connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and drain water before removing the pump. Water and electricity are a dangerous combination.
Steps:
- 1. Check water quality: Ensure you are using clean, filtered water. Heavy sediment can clog the pump.
- 2. Access the pump: Remove the rear or bottom panel to locate the small water circulation pump connected to the reservoir and evaporator tray.
- 3. Clean inlet screen: Disconnect the pump from the reservoir. Inspect and clean any mesh screen or filter at the pump inlet. Rinse under running water.
- 4. Inspect impeller: Open the pump housing (if serviceable) and check for debris (scale, plastic, etc.) blocking the impeller. Remove obstructions carefully.
- 5. Check wiring: Ensure the pump's electrical connector is firmly attached and wires are intact.
- 6. Test pump: With the unit reassembled and filled with water, power on and listen for the pump. If it hums but does not move water, or is silent and E8 returns, replace the water pump.
