Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the appliance from power before touching internal components.
Step-by-step:
- Empty the ice basket: Remove all ice from the storage basket. Sometimes a large clump of ice blocks the ice full sensor and triggers E2.
- Clean the sensor window: On many G3 Ferrari ice makers, the ice full sensor is an infrared pair (emitter and receiver) located on the side walls above the ice basket. Wipe the small plastic windows with a soft, dry cloth. If there is heavy scale or residue, use a cloth dampened with water and a little vinegar, then dry thoroughly.
- Check sensor alignment: Ensure the two sensor lenses face each other directly and are not bent or displaced. Gently reposition them if needed.
- Inspect wiring: With the unit unplugged and top cover removed, trace the small harness from the ice full sensor to the control PCB. Make sure the connector is fully seated and there are no broken wires.
- Reset the unit: Reassemble, plug in, and power on. Start a new ice cycle and observe whether E2 reappears.
When to call a technician: If E2 persists after cleaning and checking alignment, the ice full sensor assembly or main control board may need replacement.
