Possible Causes

Blocked condenser airflow, Dirty condenser coil, Failed condenser fan motor, Faulty compressor overload protector or PTC starter

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the ice maker and allow the compressor area to cool before working near it.

Step-by-step:

  • Check ventilation: Ensure there is at least 10–15 cm of clearance around the sides and back of the G3 Ferrari ice maker. Do not place it inside a closed cabinet or against a wall.
  • Clean condenser coil: Access the rear or side ventilation grille. Use a soft brush or vacuum to remove dust from the condenser coil and air passages.
  • Verify condenser fan operation: During operation, a small fan near the compressor should run. If the fan does not spin or is noisy, inspect for obstructions and clean the blades. If it still does not run, the condenser fan motor may be defective.
  • Check ambient temperature: Do not operate the ice maker in very hot environments (above ~32–35°C), as this can trigger overheat protection.
  • Reset the unit: After cleaning and ensuring good airflow, leave the unit unplugged for 20–30 minutes to allow the overload protector to reset. Then plug in and test.

When to call a technician: If E4 returns quickly, the compressor overload protector, PTC starter, or the compressor itself may be failing and should be diagnosed with proper tools.
