Possible Causes

Faulty ice thickness sensor, Misadjusted ice thickness probe, Excessive scale on evaporator plate, Control board timing error

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit before touching the evaporator or sensors.

Cleaning and adjustment:

  • Clean evaporator plate: Use a soft cloth with a 1:1 vinegar-water solution to gently remove scale from the metal evaporator fingers/plate. Do not scratch the surface.
  • Inspect ice thickness sensor: Some Gastroback models use a metal probe or plastic paddle that senses cube size during harvest. Ensure it is clean, not bent, and moves freely.
  • Reset thickness setting: If your model allows selecting ice size (small/medium/large), set it back to the default (usually medium) and restart.

If E10 continues after thorough descaling and sensor inspection, the thickness sensor or control PCB may require replacement.
