Possible Causes
Corrupted control PCB firmware, Loose display-to-main-board connector, Power surge damage to microcontroller, Oxidized PCB connectors
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before accessing the control panel.
Steps:
- Hard reset: Disconnect the ice maker from power for at least 10 minutes. Press and hold the power button (if accessible) for 10 seconds while unplugged to discharge residual power, then reconnect.
- Check control connections: If you can safely remove the top/control cover, inspect the ribbon cable and connectors between the display board and main PCB. Reseat them firmly.
- Surge protection: After reset, plug the unit into a properly grounded outlet, preferably via a surge protector.
If E7 returns immediately after a hard reset and connector check, the control PCB is likely defective and should be replaced as a complete module.
