Possible Causes
Blocked water circulation pump inlet, Failed water pump motor, Kinked internal water hose, Scale buildup in water distribution tube
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing internal water components.
Steps:
- Drain and clean reservoir: Remove all water from the tank. Rinse with warm water and a small amount of white vinegar to dissolve mineral deposits, then rinse thoroughly.
- Clean pump inlet filter: Many Gastroback ice makers have a small mesh filter at the pump intake. Remove and rinse this filter to clear debris.
- Check internal hoses (if accessible): Ensure hoses from the pump to the ice tray are not kinked or pinched. Straighten any bends.
- Run a cleaning cycle: If your model has a CLEAN function, run it with a diluted vinegar solution, then flush with fresh water.
If E9 persists and you cannot hear the pump running during the fill phase, the pump motor may need replacement.
