Possible Causes

Condenser coil heavily clogged, Ambient temperature too high or poor ventilation, Condenser fan not running properly, Faulty high‑pressure switch or sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before cleaning or removing panels.

  • Improve ventilation: Ensure the Gram ice maker has the required clearance around the sides and rear. Do not block ventilation grilles. Move the unit away from heat sources such as ovens or direct sunlight.
  • Clean condenser coil: Remove the rear or lower front grille to access the condenser coil. Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint from the fins. For heavy grease, use a coil cleaner following the product instructions.
  • Check condenser fan operation: With panels removed, briefly power the unit and confirm the condenser fan starts when the compressor runs. If not, refer to the E4 procedure and replace the fan motor if defective.
  • Inspect high‑pressure switch/sensor: Locate the high‑pressure switch or pressure sensor on the discharge line. Check wiring and connectors. If the switch is tripped and does not reset after cooling and cleaning, it may be faulty and should be replaced by a qualified technician.
  • Persistent E5: If E5 returns after cleaning and confirming fan operation, there may be a sealed system issue (overcharge, restriction). Contact a refrigeration technician.
