Possible Causes

Cabinet/ambient NTC sensor open or shorted, Sensor dislodged from mounting point, Wiring harness damage, Faulty main control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before accessing internal components.

  • Locate the ambient/cabinet sensor: On many Gram ice makers, this NTC sensor is mounted near the air intake or inside the storage bin area.
  • Inspect mounting and cleanliness: Ensure the sensor is properly clipped in place and not covered by ice or insulation. Clean off any frost buildup gently.
  • Check wiring: Follow the sensor wires back to the control board. Look for pinched, cut, or corroded wires. Reseat the connector at the board.
  • Measure resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare to the Gram specification chart. Replace the Gram cabinet NTC sensor if readings are out of range or intermittent when the wire is flexed.
  • Control board check: If the sensor and wiring are good, the main control PCB may misread the sensor. Replacement of the PCB should be done by a professional.
