Possible Causes
Condenser fan blade hitting shroud, Circulation pump bearings worn, Loose compressor mounting bolts, Vibrating panels or tubing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before touching moving parts.
- Identify noise source: Remove front and rear panels and briefly power the unit to locate whether the noise comes from the fan, pump, or compressor area. Then disconnect power again.
- Inspect condenser fan: Check that the fan blade is not rubbing against the shroud or wiring. Reposition or secure components as needed. Replace the Gram condenser fan motor and blade if the bearings are noisy.
- Check circulation pump: If noise is from the sump area, the water circulation pump may have worn bearings or debris in the impeller. Remove and clean the pump; replace if noise persists.
- Secure compressor and tubing: Tighten compressor mounting bolts and add foam or clips to prevent copper lines from vibrating against panels.
