Possible Causes
Water inlet valve not opening, Circulation pump not running, Refrigerant leak or low charge, Evaporator heavily scaled
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and close the water supply before inspection.
- Verify water supply: Confirm the external shutoff valve is open and the inlet hose is not kinked. Briefly disconnect the hose at the rear and open the valve into a bucket to confirm strong flow.
- Check for ice formation: After reconnecting and powering the unit, wait 10–15 minutes and carefully touch the evaporator plate (without tools). It should become very cold and start to frost. If it stays warm, there is a refrigeration issue.
- Listen for pumps and fans: During operation, you should hear the circulation pump and condenser fan. If silent, inspect and test the Gram water circulation pump and condenser fan motor.
- Descale evaporator: Heavy scale can prevent ice from forming or releasing. Run a full cleaning cycle with Gram‑approved ice maker cleaner, following the user manual.
- Call a technician for sealed system issues: If the compressor runs but the evaporator does not get cold, a refrigerant leak or restriction is likely. This requires a certified refrigeration technician.
