Possible Causes
Failed condenser fan motor, Obstructed fan blades, Loose fan wiring connector, Fan driver failure on control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before accessing the rear or bottom panels.
- 1. Inspect fan area: Remove the rear or bottom cover to expose the condenser fan. Check for dust buildup, plastic packaging, or wires obstructing the blades.
- 2. Clean and free the fan: Use a brush and vacuum to clean the fan and condenser coil. Gently spin the fan by hand; it should rotate freely without grinding.
- 3. Check wiring: Ensure the fan motor connector is firmly seated on the harness and at the control board.
- 4. Test operation: With the unit reassembled but still open enough to see the fan, plug in and start a cycle. The fan should start shortly after the compressor. If it does not, the motor is likely defective.
- 5. Replace fan motor: Remove mounting screws and install a compatible H.Koenig condenser fan motor, reconnecting wires as originally routed.
Warning: Keep hands clear of the fan when the unit is powered; the fan can start unexpectedly.
