E8 displayed; ice shovel or tray does not move during harvest, sometimes accompanied by grinding or clicking noises.

Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before touching any moving parts or gears.

• 1. Clear visible jams: Remove the ice basket and inspect the ice shovel/arm. Remove any large or fused ice blocks that could be blocking movement.
• 2. Manually move the shovel: Gently try to move the shovel arm by hand. It should move with some resistance but not be completely stuck. Do not force it.
• 3. Access the drive mechanism: Remove the top or side cover to locate the shovel motor and gearbox. Check for broken plastic gears or loose screws.
• 4. Check wiring: Ensure the motor connector is secure and wires are not pinched.
• 5. Lubrication: If gears are intact but dry, apply a small amount of food-safe grease to the gear teeth.
• 6. Replace motor/gearbox: If the motor does not run during harvest or gears are stripped, replace the ice shovel motor assembly with an H.Koenig-compatible part.
