Possible Causes
Refrigerant leak in evaporator or tubing, Severely blocked condenser coil, Faulty high-pressure switch (if equipped), Compressor mechanical failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker. Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigeration system yourself.
- 1. Check ambient conditions: Ensure the ice maker is used in a room within the specified temperature range (typically 10–32°C). Very high ambient temperatures can trigger protection.
- 2. Clean condenser and ensure airflow: Remove dust from the condenser coil and verify the fan operates correctly. Ensure adequate clearance around the unit.
- 3. Observe evaporator: After starting a cycle (short test), carefully feel the evaporator surface (avoid wet hands). It should become cold within a few minutes. If it remains warm and E9 appears, there may be a refrigerant or compressor issue.
- 4. Inspect for oil stains: Look for oily residue on copper tubing or around joints, which can indicate a refrigerant leak.
- 5. Contact service: If cleaning and ventilation do not resolve E9, the unit requires professional refrigeration service or compressor/evaporator replacement.
Warning: Refrigerant handling is regulated and must be performed by certified technicians only.
