Possible Causes
Dirty water tank or hoses, Limescale and biofilm in water circuit, Use of poor-quality tap water, Mold growth in ice bin
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and discard all ice.
- 1. Use fresh water: Fill the reservoir with filtered or bottled water instead of heavily chlorinated tap water.
- 2. Deep clean: Remove and wash the ice basket, tank, and any removable parts with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
- 3. Descale and sanitize: Run a cleaning cycle with a food-safe descaler or vinegar, then a sanitizing cycle with a mild food-safe sanitizer if recommended by H.Koenig.
- 4. Clean bin surfaces: Wipe the ice bin and internal walls with a cloth soaked in vinegar solution, then rinse with clean water.
- 5. Regular maintenance: Repeat cleaning every few weeks depending on usage and water hardness.
Warning: Do not use strong bleach solutions; residues can be harmful if ingested.
