Possible Causes
Low actual water level in reservoir, Stuck or misaligned water level float, Dirty or scaled float sensor, Faulty low water level switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing the reservoir or float components.
Steps to resolve ADD_WATER:
- 1. Confirm water level: Remove the reservoir and visually confirm that water reaches the indicated fill line. Top up with clean water if needed.
- 2. Remove and clean the float: Take out the float assembly from the reservoir. Soak it in a mixture of white vinegar and warm water to dissolve mineral deposits, then rinse thoroughly.
- 3. Clean the float guide: Wipe the float tube or guide channel to ensure smooth movement. Reinstall the float, making sure it is oriented correctly.
- 4. Check the low water switch: Under the reservoir, inspect the low water level switch or sensor. Ensure it is firmly mounted and the wiring is intact.
- 5. Test the switch: If mechanical, use a multimeter to verify that the switch changes state as the float moves. Replace the switch if it fails this test.
- 6. Reassemble and test: Refit the reservoir, plug in the unit, and start a cycle. The ADD_WATER message should clear once the sensor detects proper level.
Tip: Using filtered water can reduce scale buildup and prevent future false low-water warnings.
