HOMCOM
Poor Ice Quality / Incomplete Freezing
Ice maker produces ice, but cubes are very small, hollow, or melt quickly.

Possible Causes
Insufficient freeze time due to sensor miscalibration, Warm incoming water temperature, Dirty evaporator surface, Low refrigerant charge reducing cooling capacity
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before cleaning internal components.
Steps to improve ice quality:
- 1. Use cooler water: Fill the reservoir with cold, filtered water. Very warm water increases freeze time and can cause hollow cubes.
- 2. Clean the evaporator: With the unit unplugged, wipe the evaporator fingers or plate with a soft cloth and a mixture of water and mild dish soap, then rinse with a damp cloth. Avoid scratching the surface.
- 3. Descale the system: Run a cleaning cycle if your HOMCOM model supports it, using a manufacturer-approved descaling solution or diluted white vinegar, then flush thoroughly.
- 4. Check ambient temperature: Ensure the room is within the recommended range. Very hot rooms reduce ice quality.
- 5. Inspect sensors: If ice is ejected too early, the evaporator temperature sensor may be misreading. Check its mounting and replace if necessary.
Note: If cleaning and environmental adjustments do not help, a refrigeration issue (low charge, weak compressor) may be present and requires professional diagnosis.
