Possible Causes
Restricted water inlet, Faulty flow meter (if fitted), Defective water level sensor in tray, Control board fill relay failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker and close the water supply valve.
- Check tray and fill nozzle: Remove the ice tray assembly. Inspect the fill nozzle or channel for scale or debris. Clean thoroughly with warm water and a descaling solution.
- Verify inlet flow: Disconnect the outlet hose from the water inlet valve to the tray. Briefly open the water supply (with hose directed into a container) to confirm strong flow. If weak, check the inlet filter and household supply.
- Inspect flow meter (if present): Some Indesit models use a small in-line flow sensor. Check for blockage and ensure the impeller spins freely. Replace if seized or if the sensor wiring is damaged.
- Check tray level sensor: If the tray has a dedicated level sensor, clean its contacts and ensure it is correctly positioned. Replace if corroded or cracked.
- Control board check: If water continues to run or never runs despite good components, the fill relay on the main control board may be stuck or open. In that case, replace the main control board.
