Possible Causes

Failed ice ejector motor, Jammed ejector arm or rake, Broken gear in harvest mechanism, Faulty position sensor or microswitch

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the ice maker before accessing moving parts.

  • Inspect ice tray and ejector: Remove the ice bin and tray cover. Look for jammed or oversized cubes blocking the ejector rake or arm. Clear any ice obstructions.
  • Check for mechanical damage: Rotate the ejector arm gently by hand (if design allows). If it is seized or grinding, the gear set may be stripped and the motor assembly should be replaced.
  • Test ejector motor: Access the motor at the side or rear of the ice tray assembly. Disconnect the connector and measure motor resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
  • Inspect position switch/sensor: Many Indesit ice makers use a microswitch or Hall sensor to detect home position. Check for loose mounting, broken actuators, or damaged wiring. Replace if faulty.
  • Reassemble and run harvest test: After replacing components, reassemble and start a manual harvest cycle if available in the service menu to confirm E09 is cleared.
