Possible Causes
Loose UI ribbon cable, Faulty touch control panel, Moisture ingress behind control panel, Failed UI communication circuit on main board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker before accessing the control panel.
- Dry the control area: If condensation or spills have reached the control panel, allow the unit to dry completely. Use a dry cloth; do not use heat guns directly on plastics.
- Check ribbon cable: Remove the front control panel cover. Inspect the flat ribbon cable between the user interface and main control board. Reseat both ends and ensure there are no kinks or cracks.
- Inspect for corrosion: Look for green/white corrosion on connectors. Clean lightly with contact cleaner and a soft brush.
- Test keypad: If available, enter the diagnostic mode (refer to Indesit service documentation) to test each key. If some keys fail consistently, replace the user interface panel.
- Replace main board if needed: If a known-good UI still does not communicate, the main control board may be defective.
