Possible Causes
Failed touchpad or keypad, Loose UI ribbon cable, Moisture intrusion into control panel, Defective user interface board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the ice maker before removing the control panel or display assembly.
- Dry the panel: If the unit is installed near a sink or has been recently cleaned, moisture may have entered the keypad. Allow the panel to dry completely for several hours.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Remove the front control panel and check the flat ribbon cable between the user interface and main control board. Reseat both ends firmly.
- Check for corrosion: Look for green or white corrosion on connectors. Clean lightly with contact cleaner if minor; replace the UI board if severe.
- Test button response: After reassembly, restore power and test each button. If E14 persists and buttons remain unresponsive, replace the user interface assembly with the correct Kenmore part.
