Internal Drainage Failure
Water is pooling inside the Kenmore ice bin or ice-making compartment instead of draining properly.

Possible Causes
Clogged internal drain tube, Frozen drain line, Failed drain pump, Improper unit leveling
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect power before working inside the bin or drain area.
- Level the unit: Use a bubble level to ensure the ice maker is slightly tilted toward the drain as specified in the installation manual. Adjust leveling legs as needed.
- Clear the drain opening: Locate the drain hole at the bottom of the bin or reservoir. Use a small brush or pipe cleaner to remove debris.
- Thaw frozen drain: If the drain line is frozen, unplug the unit and allow it to thaw. You can use warm (not boiling) water to help melt ice in the drain tube.
- Check drain pump operation: For pump-equipped models, listen for the pump running during drain. If silent, test the pump for continuity and replace if failed.
- Verify external drain height: Ensure the external drain or standpipe is not higher than the outlet of a gravity-drain model, which would prevent proper flow.
