Possible Causes

Blocked condenser fan grille, Failed condenser fan motor, Loose fan motor wiring harness, Faulty main control PCB fan driver circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Lakeland ice maker from the mains before removing any covers. Never work on the unit while it is powered.

  • 1. Check ventilation and fan grille: Move the ice maker at least 10–15 cm away from walls or cabinets. Inspect the rear and side ventilation slots for dust, pet hair, or packaging material. Clean with a soft brush and vacuum.
  • 2. Inspect the condenser fan: Remove the rear service panel (usually held by Phillips screws). Locate the condenser fan motor assembly near the compressor and condenser coil. Check if anything is jamming the fan blades (cables, insulation, debris). Remove obstructions carefully.
  • 3. Test fan spin: With power still disconnected, spin the fan blades by hand. They should rotate freely without grinding. If stiff or seized, the condenser fan motor is likely faulty and should be replaced.
  • 4. Check wiring: Inspect the fan motor wiring harness from the fan to the main control PCB. Look for loose connectors, burnt marks, or broken insulation. Reseat any loose plugs firmly.
  • 5. Power-on test: Refit the rear panel, plug the unit back in, and start an ice cycle. Observe through the grille: the fan should start within a few minutes. If E1 reappears and the fan does not run, the fan motor or control PCB is defective.
  • 6. Replace parts if needed: If the fan is seized or does not receive voltage (test with a multimeter if competent), replace the condenser fan motor assembly. If the fan is good but not powered, the main control PCB may need replacement—this is best done by a qualified technician.
