Possible Causes

Failed ambient NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from mounting point, Damaged sensor wiring, Faulty main control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the ice maker from power before inspection.

  • 1. Locate ambient sensor: The ambient NTC sensor is typically mounted near the air intake grille or inside the cabinet wall. Refer to your model layout if available.
  • 2. Visual inspection: Check that the sensor probe is intact and not broken or cut. Ensure it is not dangling loose inside the cabinet.
  • 3. Check wiring: Follow the sensor cable to the main control PCB. Inspect for pinched, frayed, or burnt wires. Reseat the connector on the PCB.
  • 4. Reset the unit: After checking connections, unplug the unit for 10 minutes, then reconnect and start a cycle to see if E4 clears.
  • 5. Replace sensor if needed: If E4 persists, replace the ambient NTC temperature sensor with a compatible Lakeland part. Mount it in the same location and route the cable as originally installed.
  • 6. PCB diagnosis: If a new sensor does not resolve the error, the main control PCB may be faulty and should be replaced by a qualified technician.
