Possible Causes
Stuck mechanical float, Scaled or dirty water level probe, Failed float switch, Loose sensor wiring to main control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect from mains before working inside the water reservoir area.
- 1. Empty and inspect reservoir: Remove the water reservoir and empty it. Look for a plastic float or metal water level probes inside the tank or base.
- 2. Clean float or probes: If your model uses a float, move it up and down to ensure free movement. Clean any limescale or slime with warm water and mild detergent. For probe-type sensors, gently scrub the metal rods with a soft brush to remove mineral deposits.
- 3. Check for obstructions: Ensure no labels, plastic film, or foreign objects are interfering with the float or probes.
- 4. Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires to the main control PCB. Reseat connectors and check for damage.
- 5. Refill and reset: Reassemble, refill the reservoir to the correct level, and plug the unit back in. Start a cycle and monitor for recurrence of E8.
- 6. Replace sensor: If the error persists, replace the water level sensor assembly (float switch or probe harness) with a compatible Lakeland part.
