Possible Causes
Loose ice tray mounting screws, Warped ice tray, Excessive ice build-up on evaporator, Ice basket not seated correctly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug before adjusting internal components.
- 1. Check basket position: Ensure the ice basket is correctly seated and not contacting the ice tray or chute.
- 2. Inspect ice tray: Open the lid and observe the ice tray / evaporator assembly during a cycle. Look for excessive movement or contact with the cabinet.
- 3. Tighten mounting hardware: Remove the top cover if necessary and tighten screws securing the ice tray brackets and motor linkage.
- 4. Defrost excess ice: If thick ice has built up on the evaporator, switch off the unit, remove the drain plug, and allow all ice to melt. Wipe dry before restarting.
- 5. Replace warped tray: If the tray is visibly warped or cracked, replace the ice tray assembly to prevent impact noises.
