Possible Causes
Blocked condenser airflow, Failed condenser fan motor, Excessive ambient temperature, Refrigerant system fault (low charge or blockage)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before cleaning or moving it. Do not attempt to open sealed refrigeration components.
- Improve ventilation: Ensure at least 10–15 cm of clearance around the sides and rear of the ice maker. Do not operate it inside cabinets or tight enclosures.
- Clean condenser grille: Use a soft brush or vacuum to remove dust from the rear or side ventilation grilles where the condenser coil and fan draw air.
- Check condenser fan: With the unit briefly powered on, observe through the rear grille to confirm the fan is spinning. If it does not run or is noisy, unplug the unit and plan to replace the fan motor.
- Allow cooling-off time: If the unit has overheated, leave it unplugged for 30–60 minutes, then restart.
- If E4 returns quickly: There may be a sealed system issue (refrigerant leak, blocked capillary tube) or a faulty thermal sensor. These require professional diagnosis with proper tools.
