Possible Causes
Dirty water reservoir, Mineral scale on evaporator, Bacterial growth in water circuit, Use of non-potable water
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before cleaning. Do not use harsh chemicals that are not food-safe.
- Use fresh water: Always fill the reservoir with cold, potable water. Avoid distilled water if the manual advises against it.
- Clean reservoir and bin: Wash the water tank and ice basket with warm water and mild dish soap. Rinse thoroughly.
- Descale system: Fill the reservoir with a mixture of water and food-safe descaler or white vinegar (per manufacturer guidelines). Run a cleaning cycle if available, then discard all ice and rinse with two full tanks of clean water.
- Dry between uses: If storing the unit, empty and dry the reservoir and bin to prevent odors.
