Possible Causes
Moisture ingress into touch panel, Damaged keypad membrane or PCB, Loose ribbon cable between display board and main control PCB, Faulty main control PCB interface
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker before opening the control panel.
Steps to resolve E9:
- Dry the control area: If the panel was recently splashed, unplug the unit and allow it to dry for several hours. Do not use a hair dryer on high heat; gentle ambient drying is best.
- Inspect the control panel: Remove the screws securing the top cover or front bezel to access the control panel PCB and keypad membrane.
- Check ribbon cable: Locate the flat ribbon cable connecting the display/keypad board to the main control PCB. Reseat both ends carefully, ensuring they are fully inserted and locked.
- Look for corrosion: Examine the keypad PCB for signs of moisture damage, corrosion, or burnt components. Clean light corrosion with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush.
- Test button response: Reassemble loosely, plug in, and test each button. If some buttons still do not respond or trigger wrong functions, the keypad assembly is likely faulty.
- Replace parts: Replace the control panel / keypad PCB. If a new panel does not resolve the issue, the main control PCB may also need replacement.
Note: Avoid spraying cleaners directly onto the control panel; apply to a cloth first.
