Possible Causes
Faulty ON/OFF button or touch sensor, Loose keypad ribbon cable, Lid safety switch not engaged, Control PCB logic fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing the control panel.
Steps to troubleshoot:
- Check lid position: Some Russell Hobbs ice makers have a lid switch that must be closed. Ensure the lid is fully shut and not obstructed.
- Try multiple presses: Press and hold the ON/START button for a few seconds. If the button feels stuck or unresponsive, the keypad may be faulty.
- Inspect control panel connections: Remove the top cover to access the keypad PCB and ribbon cable. Reseat the cable at both ends.
- Test lid switch (if fitted): Locate the lid micro-switch and test continuity with a multimeter while opening and closing the lid. Replace if it does not change state.
- Replace components: If the button circuit is defective, replace the control panel / keypad PCB. Persistent issues may require replacing the main control PCB.
