Possible Causes
Blocked ice full sensor window by frost or ice, Misaligned infrared emitter/receiver pair, Failed ice full sensor board, Damaged sensor wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before cleaning or adjusting internal sensors.
How to fix:
- Empty the ice basket: Remove all ice from the storage basket. Overfilled baskets can trigger the full sensor and cause E3.
- Clean the sensor area: Locate the ice full sensor near the top of the ice basket area (often a small window or pair of lenses). Wipe away frost, condensation, or mineral deposits with a soft cloth slightly dampened with warm water. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- Check sensor alignment: Ensure the emitter and receiver (if separate) are facing each other directly and not bent out of position.
- Inspect wiring: Remove the top or side cover to access the sensor wiring. Confirm that connectors are fully seated on the sensor board and main PCB.
- Test operation: Plug the unit back in and start a cycle with the basket empty. If E3 clears, monitor for recurrence. If it returns immediately, the ice full sensor module may be defective.
- Replace sensor: If cleaning and alignment do not help, replace the ice full infrared sensor assembly specific to your Sencor model.
