Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between control panel and main PCB, Damaged touch control board, Corroded connectors from moisture, Failed main control board microcontroller
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the ice maker before removing the top cover or control panel.
Steps:
- Power reset: Unplug the unit for 10–15 minutes to discharge internal circuits, then plug back in and test. If E6 returns, proceed.
- Access control panel: Remove screws securing the top cover or front bezel to expose the control PCB. Carefully disconnect and re-seat the flat ribbon cable or wiring harness between the display board and main board.
- Inspect for moisture: Look for signs of condensation or water ingress around the control panel. Dry gently with a hair dryer on low heat at a safe distance, or allow to air dry completely.
- Check for corrosion: Examine connectors and the control PCB for green/white corrosion. Light corrosion can sometimes be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush.
- Replace faulty board: If buttons still do not respond and E6 persists, replace the control panel PCB. If that does not help, the main control board may also need replacement.
