Possible Causes
Ice shovel motor gears worn or misaligned, Foreign object stuck in ice shovel or tray, Condenser fan blade hitting shroud, Loose compressor mounting brackets
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off and unplug the ice maker before inspecting moving parts.
Steps:
- Check for obstructions: Open the lid and inspect the ice shovel/agitator and ice tray. Remove any loose ice chunks or foreign objects that may jam the mechanism.
- Inspect shovel motor: Remove the top cover to access the ice shovel motor and gear assembly. Look for cracked gears or misaligned shafts. Replace the ice shovel motor assembly if gears are stripped.
- Fan inspection: From the rear, check that the condenser fan spins freely and does not contact the housing. Adjust the fan shroud or replace the condenser fan motor if the shaft is bent.
- Compressor mounts: Tighten any loose screws or rubber mounts securing the compressor to reduce vibration noise.
