Possible Causes

Blocked infrared ice level sensor, Misaligned ice full sensor pair, Failed IR emitter or receiver, Loose or damaged sensor wiring

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect the ice maker from power before working inside the ice bin area.

  • Clean the sensors: Locate the ice full sensors near the top of the ice basket (often a pair of small windows on opposite sides). Clean both sides with a soft cloth to remove condensation, frost, or dirt.
  • Check for obstructions: Make sure the ice basket is correctly seated and not pushing against the sensors. Remove excess ice that may be blocking the sensor beam.
  • Inspect alignment: Confirm that the emitter and receiver are directly facing each other and not bent out of position.
  • Check wiring: Follow the sensor wires back to the control PCB. Ensure connectors are tight and wires are not damaged.
  • Test operation: With the unit reassembled and powered, observe whether the ice full indicator responds when you place an object between the sensors. If there is no change, the sensor pair may be defective.
  • Replace sensor assembly: If cleaning and alignment do not resolve E7, replace the ice bin full sensor assembly (IR emitter and receiver). If a new sensor does not fix the issue, the control PCB input circuit may be faulty.
