Possible Causes
Failed circulation water pump, Blocked water pump inlet, Air lock in pump, Faulty pump driver on control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the Severin ice maker and empty the water reservoir before removing internal covers.
- Check water level and seating: Ensure the water tank is properly seated and filled to the correct level. Some models will show E8 if the pump draws air.
- Inspect pump inlet: Locate the water pump (usually at the bottom of the reservoir or under the tank). Remove any debris or scale from the inlet screen.
- Bleed air from pump: Refill the reservoir and tilt the unit slightly to help trapped air escape from the pump. Start a cycle and listen for the pump. If it hums but does not move water, it may be air-locked or jammed.
- Access and test pump: Remove the housing to access the pump. Check the wiring connector and measure coil resistance with a multimeter. An open circuit indicates a failed pump.
- Check for blockage: Disconnect the outlet hose and verify water can flow freely through the tubing. Clean any mineral buildup.
- Replace pump: If the pump does not run or is noisy and weak, replace it with a compatible Severin circulation water pump. If the pump is good but never receives voltage, the control PCB pump driver may be defective.
