Possible Causes
Misaligned ice full sensor, Dirty or fogged sensor lenses, Stuck mechanical ice level arm (on some models), Faulty IR sensor pair
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the ice maker before working near the ice bin sensors.
- Empty and reseat basket: Remove the ice basket, empty it, and reinstall it correctly. Ensure it is not tilted or pushing against the sensors.
- Clean sensor windows: Wipe the sensor windows on both sides of the bin with a soft dry cloth. Remove condensation or frost that may block the beam.
- Check mechanical arm: If your Severin model uses a mechanical ice level arm, ensure it moves freely up and down and is not stuck in the raised (full) position.
- Test sensor response: With the unit powered, observe the full indicator while briefly blocking the sensor path with your hand. It should toggle state. If it remains stuck, the sensor may be faulty.
- Replace sensor or arm: If cleaning and repositioning do not resolve the issue, replace the ice full sensor assembly or level arm switch as appropriate for your model.
