Possible Causes

Insufficient water in reservoir, Mis-seated removable water tank, Faulty low water float or sensor, Mineral buildup on low water probes

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the water tank or internal covers.

  • Verify water level: Fill the reservoir to the indicated MAX line. Some Severin models are sensitive to low levels and will show LO even if water is visible.
  • Reseat the tank: If your model has a removable tank, remove and reinstall it firmly to ensure the valve at the bottom opens correctly.
  • Clean level probes: If the unit uses metal probes for low water detection, clean them with a cloth and white vinegar to remove scale.
  • Check float movement: For float-based systems, confirm the float moves freely and is not stuck at the low position.
  • Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor or float wires to the control PCB and reseat the connector.
  • Replace sensor: If LO persists despite correct water level and cleaning, replace the low water sensor or float assembly.
