Possible Causes
Incorrect ice thickness sensor reading, Weak hot gas bypass or defrost function in sealed system, Control PCB timing error, Excessive mineral buildup on evaporator surface
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow ice to melt before working on the evaporator.
- Defrost completely: Leave the lid open and let all ice melt from the evaporator plate. Do not chip ice with sharp tools.
- Clean evaporator: Wipe the plate with a soft cloth and descaling solution to remove mineral deposits that can cause ice to stick.
- Check ice thickness sensor: Clean and verify the position of the thickness sensor so it correctly detects when ice is ready to harvest.
- Observe harvest cycle: Run a cycle and watch the transition from freeze to harvest. If the compressor does not change sound or the plate does not warm slightly, the hot gas bypass or control may be faulty.
- Service sealed system if needed: If harvest never occurs despite correct sensor operation, a sealed system or valve issue may exist and should be handled by a refrigeration technician.
