How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow it to sit for several minutes before accessing the compressor area.
- Listen for clicks: When plugging in and starting a cycle, listen near the compressor. Repeated clicking without running indicates start circuit issues.
- Check start relay and overload: Remove and test the relay and overload as described in the E2 section. Replace if defective.
- Measure compressor windings: Use a multimeter to verify the compressor windings are not open or shorted.
- Check PCB relay: With caution and proper tools, verify that the control PCB sends power to the compressor when commanded. If not, the PCB relay may be faulty.
- Replace components: Install a new start relay/overload or main PCB as indicated by tests. If the compressor itself is defective, professional replacement is required and may not be economical.
