Possible Causes

Hard tap water used without filtration, Infrequent cleaning, High mineral content causing deposits on cold surfaces

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit before descaling. Avoid abrasive tools that can damage the evaporator coating.

  • Prepare descaling solution: Mix white vinegar and warm water (1:3 ratio) or use a food-safe descaler recommended by Severin.
  • Soak reservoir and water path: Fill the reservoir with the solution and let it sit for 30–45 minutes. Use a soft brush to gently scrub visible deposits.
  • Clean evaporator plate: Dip a soft cloth in the solution and wipe the evaporator plate thoroughly. Do not pour large amounts of liquid directly onto electrical components.
  • Rinse thoroughly: Drain the solution, rinse the reservoir several times with clean water, and run 2–3 ice cycles, discarding the ice, to flush the system.
  • Prevent recurrence: Use filtered or softened water if possible and follow the cleaning schedule in the Severin manual.
